How to Properly Warm Up Your Excavator in cold and Winter seasons
Operating an excavator in severe cold weather requires special attention to ensure optimal performance and prevent potential damage. In this article, we will discuss the importance of warming up the excavator before starting work and provide step-by-step instructions on how to enable the automatic warm-up function. Additionally, we'll share some precautions to follow during winter operation.
Why Warm-Up Is Crucial: Insufficient warm-up can lead to slow response and abnormal howling sounds from the working device. Cold oil and components need time to reach optimal operating temperature to ensure smooth and efficient performance. By performing a proper warm-up, you can enhance the longevity and reliability of your excavator.
Enabling the Automatic Warm-Up Function:
Step 1: Access the User Menu
Turn the key switch to "ON" to display the main screen.
Press the "menu switch" to enter the user menu screen.
Step 2: Select Function Settings
Use the "Up" and "Down" arrow switches to move the cursor to "Function Selection."
Press the "Right" arrow switch to enter the "Function Selection" menu.
Step 3: Enable Auto Warm Up
Use the "Up" and "Down" arrow switches to move the cursor to "Auto Warm Up."
Press the "Right" arrow switch to enter the "Auto Warm Up" state, where the "OFF" option will turn blue.
Step 4: Activate the Function
Use the "Up" and "Down" arrow switches to select "ON" for the Auto Warm Up function.
Press the "menu switch" to set the selection, and the "ON" option will turn black.
Step 5: Save the Setting
Turn the key switch to "OFF" to save the automatic warm-up function setting.
Precautions for Winter Operation:
Step 1: Engage the Safety Lock Lever
Before starting the engine, put the safety lock lever in the "locked position" to ensure safety during warm-up.
Step 2: Automatic Warm-Up Process
When starting the engine while it is cold, the automatic warm-up function initiates, and the display will show "warming up" for both the engine and hydraulic oil. Note that if you operate the handle during the warm-up process, it will temporarily interrupt the warm-up. If the handle remains neutral for 10 seconds, the automatic warm-up will restart.
Step 3: Completion of Warm-Up
After the warm-up is completed, a buzzer will sound "warm-up complete" for 5 seconds, indicating that the warm-up operation is finished.
Conclusion: Taking the time to properly warm up your excavator in winter is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. By following the steps to enable the automatic warm-up function and adhering to the outlined precautions, you can ensure smooth operation and minimize potential issues caused by cold temperatures. Stay mindful of the manufacturer's guidelines and consult the operator's manual for specific recommendations tailored to your excavator model.
